Jowin Foo, Representative
Jowin Foo is a graduate from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, alumni of Interactive Architecture Lab and Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations ex-organising committee. His research agendas encompassed within the scope of platform capitalism(big tech), cognitive and media architecture, and design fiction. He believes that the emerging platform technologies of the 21st century would be the dominant paradigm that alters the way society, economy, and politics perform in the near future. The new normal will be a future where we will face complex issues that deal with surveillance, sousveillance economy, tech gentrification and design ethics, etc. He is confident that the field of architecture would evolve and develop into a diverging field that would help contribute to developing new lexicons for complex interventions in the technocentric future where new norms needed to be investigated. Besides, He also reckons that design is a thesis within a system of theses that serves as an apparatus for us to extrapolate and engage with the critical issues which require multifaceted knowledge. Currently, Jowin is a design strategist, designer, researcher based in London and Kuala Lumpur. He hopes to broaden the architecture agenda, design pedagogy, and be involved in policymaking in the future.
